Our bees are thriving and staying busy! We recently adjusted the frame layout in the hives to boost growth and efficiency.
In a beehive, the placement of frames is crucial. The bees place brood in the central frames, surrounded by frames filled with pollen, nectar, and bee bread, while honey is typically stored in the outer frames.
Before the bees can use the frames for storage, they must first build out the comb. However, if a blank frame is placed on the outer edge, the bees might overlook it, preferring to fill the already established frames and then assuming they’ve run out of space.
By repositioning a blank frame closer to the hive’s center, we gently encourage the bees to make use of it, providing them with more space to store bee bread or honey.
