The replacement bees for the left hive arrived and settled into their new home. So we threw a welcome party!
The bees were flying around the hive in circles or a figure-eight pattern. This is actually a technique they use to orient themselves to their new environment. It only lasted for the first day or two — bees are quick learners! When new bees reach flying age, they’ll go on an “orientation flight” of their own so they can find their way back home after foraging.
