Hive Update XIII

The nectar flow is really kicking in now, and the forager bees are actively bringing in pollen and nectar. The colony’s queen is continuously laying fresh eggs to produce more colony members during this time of plenty. Though the queen is laying primarily female brood, she will chose to lay a higher percentage of drones in the spring to coincide with mating season. A drone’s sole purpose is to mate with an unrelated queen, not to forage or to care for their colony. There is buzzing loudly around the hive, as they are larger than the average female forager. To free up space to accommodate the colony’s growth, we’ve rearranged resources and boxes as necessary.
