The colonies received a boost of feed to get them through the next stretch of winter. This will ensure the colonies have the food they need to make it to spring.
At this point in the year, the queens will probably begin laying fresh eggs again! The workers in the beehive were hatched in late fall, so the eggs laid now will be raised to be the new foraging force for this spring.
