'The View' Ratings Are Higher In 2017! Cast Chemistry And Political Debates May Be Part Of The Reason ABC Show Is Thriving

environment likely contributed to the increased viewership. But it also helps that the current cast members have great chemistry.

Hollywood Take | March 2, 2017 - The View continues to get high ratings in 2017. After cancellation rumors swirled a few years ago, it doesn't look like the show is going anywhere. So why are more people tuning in?

ABC just released The View's ratings for the week of Feb. 20. And the talk show's numbers remain strong. Per ABC, Total Viewership was up three percent from the same week last year. For the season, ratings have increased nine percent among Total Viewers, and one percent among women aged 18-49.

The View also continues to beat CBS rival The Talk in the ratings. Both last week and season-to-date, The View is ahead in Total Viewers, Women 25-54, and Women 18-49.

The polarizing political climate has likely given The View a boost (look at what it's done for Stephen Colbert). And since Donald Trump is so unpopular, the hosts' frequent takedowns of the President haven't hurt the ratings.

repeatedly bashing Donald Trump on 'The View.' But the liberal cast members aren't backing down.
Behar even refused to say the President's name during one segment.

"I think we're talking about the show again," Senior Executive Producer Hilary Estey McLoughlin recently said. "Some people like the show, and some people don't like the show. But I think they're watching the show."

But The View's ratings were solid this season even before the election. Fans have warmed up to the current cast, which has mostly remained stable following years of turmoil. While Candace Cameron-Bure and Raven-Symone have moved on to other projects, ABC has settled into the rotating panel of Paula Faris, Sara Haines, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Jedediah Bila.

"I think it put us in a very odd position," Goldberg said of the previous departures. "So once the table got settled and, you know, we're in a really interesting political cycle. I think it has gelled."

Indeed, it also helps that the current View cast all gets along behind the scenes. After years of feuds like Star Jones vs. Barbara Walters and Rosie O'Donnell vs. Whoopi Goldberg, there are no signs of tension among the 2017 panel. Where there have been rumors of fights, those have never been confirmed.

The sweet comment came just days after she got into a tense fight with Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar about Obamacare.
So clearly the cast members are not in a feud, despite their political differences.

Jedediah Bila, in particular, has repeatedly insisted that she loves her liberal co-hosts. And it seems the arguments end when the cameras shut off. Bila even had a cute Twitter exchange with Sunny Hostin.

One fan recently asked the duo, "Can you guys clarify 4my friends sake that y'all don't hate each other just cause you guys tend to disagree on policy." Hostin then replied, "We like each other very much." Bila agreed, "She's one of my favorite people." Hostin also retweeted Bila's response and added, "Right back at you Chica."
