by The Root Staff

The Root | August 18, 2016 - On Tuesday The Root, in partnership with Infiniti, hosted The Root 100 2016 List Release Reception on Martha’s Vineyard. Influencers from far and wide attended to see who made this year’s list.

The Root 100 means black excellence.

And earlier this week, The Root, in partnership with Infiniti, gave black excellence a name—several names, rather—at The Root 100 2016 List Release Reception on Martha’s Vineyard.

The resplendent affair was hosted at Atria, with food curated by Chef Roblé Ali. Needless to say, attendees were in for a gastronomic adventure.

Among the evening’s attendees: Henry Louis Gates Jr., chairman of The Root; Mara Brock Akil, television writer and producer; Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake; and Sunny Hostin, senior legal correspondent and analyst for ABC News.

Unable to make it to the vineyard? Not a problem. Here’s what you missed.
